Profile Information

What is your personal relationship to or connection with mindfulness?
I am a dedicated practitioner of insight meditation and have deepened my personal meditation practice through studies in Buddhism and Buddhist psychology, several week-long silent retreats at the Spirit Rock Meditation Centre in Woodacre, California, and at the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, DC. I have had the opportunity to be taught by Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, Joseph Goldstein, Kamala Masters and other well-respected teachers. I my search for a home-based teacher, I also explored Zen at the White Wind Zen Community in Ottawa for about six months. Although I learned a lot, I discovered that it was not for me. Attending annual retreats and yearly courses are an integral part of how I wish to deepen my personal practice and continue to grow.
What is your professional work? As this is a mindfulness-based professional's network we require each member to disclose his or her profession (i.e. teacher, psychotherapist, MD, lawyer, etc.)
I am a meditation and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) teacher qualified by the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMass) to teach Jon Kabat-Zinn’s MBSR program, and certified Sivananda yoga teacher. I have also recently completed the UC San Diego's mindful self-compassion teacher training. I founded Ottawa Meditation & Wellness Inc. as a platform to teach mindfulness meditation and MBSR to anyone wanting to live with greater physical and mental ease and well-being.

I have completed all the levels of training at the UMass in addition to the MBSR in mind-body medicine. I have also completed the Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training program with Jean Kristeller, as well as other teacher trainings at MBSR Ottawa and the McLean Meditation Institute. I am working toward full certification by the UMass which will require that I complete eight rounds of the eight-week MBSR curriculum.
