This 1-day conference is designed for physicians, other health care providers, researchers and scholars with an interest in mindfulness and contemplative studies. By attending this conference, the participant will gain knowledge of the clinical application of mindfulness meditation, the use of mindfulness as a tool to promote social justice, the use of neuroimaging techniques to elucidate the relationship between brain and mind, and Buddhist perspectives of mindfulness.
Dr. Zindel Segal is a Distinguished Professor of Psychology in Mood Disorders at the University of Toronto and Cameron Wilson Chair in Depression Studies, Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto. He is one of the co-founders and developers of Mindfulnessbased Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), an evidence-based intervention for depression relapse.
