What is your personal relationship to or connection with mindfulness?
I stumbled upon Mindfulness a few years ago participating in continuing education for trauma treatments. My areas of focus in my Psychology Practice includes PTSD Recovery, Complex Trauma, Catastrophes, Depression, Anxiety, Couples Therapy, Pain Management, Coping with Cancer, and Bereavement, Death & Dying. The Psychological Interventions that I incorporate into my psychology practice includes Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Neurofeedback in Clinical Practice, Trauma-Focused Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
My journey first brought me to the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Pema Chodron, Jack Kornfield and Sharon Salzberg! I have a regular Mindfulness Meditation Practice, particularly Insight Meditation. I have participated in various Mindfulness Trainings in Ottawa and have received the Professional Training Certificate in Mindfulness Interventions (2014) from the Ottawa Mindfulness Clinic. In addition, I have completed the Mindful Self-Compassion 8 week course as well as training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I volunteer on the Steering Committee of the Mindfulness Ottawa Professional Association.
