What is your personal relationship to or connection with mindfulness?
I had been exploring mindfulness and especially mindful leadership for many years. Then in 2015 I had a boogey-boarding accident that left me with my fourth and debilitating concussion. I found that mindfulness practise was my best therapy. In 2016 I took the Mindful Self-Compassion course, followed by MBSR, and numerous retreats. I am now a trained MBSR teacher.
What is your professional work? As this is a mindfulness-based professional's network we require each member to disclose his or her profession (i.e. teacher, psychotherapist, MD, lawyer, etc.)
I was a Senior Advisor (Govt) prior to my concussion. Now I teach mindfulness (MBSR and workshops), serve as Mindfulness Advisory to the Association of Public Sector Executives (APEX) Symposium and Advisor to A Mindful Leader. I also host the annual Mass Mindfulness Meditation for Peace Day on Parliament Hill (inaugurated by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 2017)
